'Welcome to Boston's Inaugural International Theatre Festival. The premise of this festival is simple - to bring the best international theatre experience to you, our local community. Our plan for the future is to build on this year's small beginnings so we welcome a wider audience into Boston and help boost our local economy. Boston boasts a truly international community and the range of entertainment in terms of theatre, music and art is stunning and so where better to give it a home, than here? Blackfriars works hard to ensure our venue is a welcoming place for everyone, and we are especially pleased to welcome Boston Council as one of our supporters this year to ensure that ticket prices have been kept as low as possible, so everyone can experience something new and different, or something familiar, and nostalgic.'

A One-Woman Comedy Show
MONUMENT is a one-woman comedy show with audience participation, rap and pickled gherkins. Steeped in ‘ost-algia’ MONUMENT is a relatable story for the Western world freed from ideology. Right? Set at mysterious construction sites in Czechoslovakia and the UK, MONUMENT asks about the real cost and purpose of hard-work.
Two stories positioned side by side:
1950s, Czechoslovakia. A Government Apparatchik oversees the construction of the largest monument to Joseph Stalin, symbolising everlasting unity between the Soviet nations. Repressed by the Communist ideology, Apparatchik is determined to work his way to the top, where a possibility of personal freedom awaits.
2025, the UK. Bogdan, a Polish builder, aspiring rapper and an overall relatable everyman. He works hard, earns money and daydreams about a luxurious future. Caught in a work-sleep routine, Bogdan fills his loneliness with dating apps and doom scrolling on social media, interrupted by a barrage of news from the wider world. Bogdan is desperate for love and human connection but will he ever question the purpose of his hard work?
MONUMENT invites audiences to reflect on the role of our individual and collective power in shaping the world around us.

A SPANISH Comedy of Theatrical Chaos
UN ENSAYO DESASTROSO
In a "small-town" theater in Spain, the final rehearsal is falling apart. The lead actress, Verónica is as dramatic offstage as she is on, and is threatening to quit.
Meanwhile, Cassy, the super-keen stage manager, is trying to keep the chaos under control… though she secretly dreams of taking the lead role.
To make matters worse, the other members of the Spanish cast are missing so Cassy enlists the help of some of the students, who are encouraged to play all the missing characters, deliver lines, and even make sound effects.
What follows is a wildly funny rehearsal full of flubbed lines, forgotten props, theatrical meltdowns, and moments of unexpected brilliance.
Will Verónica finally share the spotlight? Will Cassy get her big moment? And can the students actually save
the show?

A fast paced FRENCH Comedy

Léa & Théo have a spontaneous "let's-just-do-NOW" attitude, and this applies to their "Together Forever Starts Now" party, which Léa wants to take place tomorrow! Plus she wants to include lots of authentic French-ness! But they have no venue, no food, no outfits, no guests, no theme and no time!
With only 24 hours to pull off their dream party its a frantic rush, but they have wildly different expectations of their “perfect (instagram) bash.”
Determined to make it happen, they enlist a series of characters (played by students from the audience) to make the impossible possible - but not without compromises.
As their stress levels rise and their party teeters on the edge of disaster, Léa & Théo start to loose focus as to who this party is really for; them or their mates.
This party will be one to remember, but for what reasons?
Its a fast-paced very interactive performance that blends comedy, French language, culture, and huge emotions!
